Dr. Elizabeth Baber, Principal

Dr. Baber earned her BS in Biology and Chemistry, Masters in Teaching, Certificate in Education Leadership, and Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to becoming the principal of Matoaca High School in 2020, she served as a Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology teacher, the Specialty Center Coordinator for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, Dean of Students, and Associate Principal for Midlothian and Monacan High Schools in Chesterfield County.

Roscoe Johnson III, Associate Principal

Mr. Johnson holds a B.S. in History and Secondary Education from Eastern Mennonite University and a Special Education endorsement from James Madison University. He earned his M.A. in Administration and Supervision from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). With over 22 years of experience in the classroom, he taught Civics, World Geography, Government, and Special Education. Before becoming Associate Principal at Matoaca High School, he served as an Administrative Intern/Dean of Students at Short Pump Middle School, Assistant Principal at Clover Hill High School, and Associate Principal at Meadowbrook High School.

Dr. Scott Birmingham, Assistant Principal

Dr. Birmingham graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A, in French and business option/minor. After graduating, he pursued a degree at the University of Virginia and obtained a Master’s in Teaching Foreign Language (while receiving educational endorsements  in French & Spanish). Dr. Birmingham eventually obtained a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University (with endorsements in administration and supervision). In addition to Dr. Birmingham’s 25-year tenure as an administrator, Dr. Birmingham taught French and Spanish and served as Chesterfield County’s World Languages Specialist for eight years. As a world traveler, Dr. Birmingham has studied in La Rochelle, France (University of Poitiers) and Valencia, Spain (University of Valencia) to complement his educational experiences/expertise.

Danielle Mayo, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Mayo earned her B.S. in Mathematics from James Madison University and M.Ed in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Richmond. During her years in the classroom, she taught mathematics for Richmond City Public Schools and Henrico County Public Schools. Prior to becoming an assistant principal at Matoaca High School, she served as the Dean of Students at Midlothian High School.

Dr. Sharon Hundley, Assistant Principal

Dr. Hundley earned a Bachelors of Education in Elementary Education and a Masters in Special Education from Grand Canyon University.  She spent 7 years teaching Special Education and Middle School Math. Hundley later earned both Masters and Doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership and Policy from Virginia Tech University.  Most recently she served as the Dean of Students at Providence Middle School.  When Dr. Hundley is not at school, she enjoys spending time with her son and cross country running.

Nichole Fowler, Dean of Students

Mrs. Fowler serves as the Dean of Students at Matoaca High School. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Virginia State University and later completed a M.Ed.in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. Committed to lifelong learning and educational leadership, Mrs. Fowler continued her studies at the University of Virginia, where she is pursuing a second M.Ed. in Administration & Supervision. Before joining the administrative team, Mrs. Fowler taught mathematics at both Monacan High School and Matoaca High School.
